Post Election Surprise #1

Cary Area Citizens for Responsible Government

Did you know that the Village of Cary is negotiating with Meyer Materials?

Did you know that Meyer Materials made a presentation to the Village Board on February 7, 2006?

Did you know that on May 2, 2006 the Village Administrator informed the board that "staff is scheduling interviews for the engineering firm for the proposed Meyer project"?

Did you know that on January 16, 2007, the Village Administrator provided an update on the three "revenue initiatives" - "the Cimmaron Project, Meyer pit proposal and the investment policy initiative"?

Probably not, since all of these items were discussed after the executive session part of the meeting under "Any and All Other Business".

Is Meyer Material asking the Village of Cary for permission to expand the existing pit into incorporated Cary?

We don't know because all attempts at getting any information through the Freedom of Information Act , including documents that were presented to the board, has been blocked by the Village Staff and the Village Attorney.

Why can't the residents of Cary get information on what is happening in their own backyards?

On April 12th, Nick Swedberg wrote an article in the Northwest Herald in regards to the Meyer Pit.  What he failed to do was check the information that was given to him, the same information that is available on this web site,  on April 2nd.  Whomever the Village Official was that told him that Meyer approached the village late last year lied.  Last time I checked, February 7 is not late in the year.

Well guess what showed up in mailboxes along Abbeywood Drive, a letter from Meyer Material Company date April 18, explaining that they are about to apply for a zoning change, a text amendment and a amendment to the annexation agreement.  They need to do this because the land has been annexed to Cary for many years and mining is not allowed in any zoning district inside Cary.  Is this what Steve Lamal intends on handling in executive session as he told the CaryGrove Countryside?

Check back with us for further developments.

Go on line to http://www.caryillinois.com/meetingdates.htm or just click on the dates to look up the minutes for the particular date and read it for yourself.  The Village has removed all 2006 minutes from their web page.  Those dates are no longer available.
